Hey, WhatsApp? Behind the deal
The jury is out on whether Facebook's purchase of WhatsApp will add value or not. The firm paid $42 per WhatsApp user.

$19 billion is an awful lot of value to have to extract from WhatsApp's 450 million users, writes Conor Brophy.

The only thing better than a grand entrance is a spectacular exit. Ukrainian immigrant Jan Koum's entry to the US was hardly grand. His family relied on food stamps to help make ends meet, following their arrival from Kiev in 1993. But he and WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton are about to effect a blockbuster exit from their start-up.
