Hero Garda Anthony Golden died ‘protecting a frightened woman and her father’, mourners hear

Garda Tony Golden “quietly let his light shine in so many ways” mourners at his funeral have heard.

President Michael D Higgins, his wife Sabina and Taoiseach Enda Kenny were among thousands who attended the funeral this afternoon.

Garda Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan described Garda Golden as a “hero” and above all a “family main” during the service.
