Helen McEntee tops Meath East poll

The daughter of the late Shane McEntee has topped the poll in the Meath East by-election and is expected to win the seat.

The daughter of the late Shane McEntee has topped the poll in the Meath East by-election and is expected to win the seat.

McEntee received 9,356 votes to top the poll, with Fianna Fáil's Thomas Byrne in second place with 8,002 votes. Sinn Féin's Darren O'Rourke came third with 3,165 votes, while Ben Gilroy, a candidate for Direct Democracy Ireland, received 1,568 votes.

Labour's Eoin Holmes came fifth with 1,112 votes.
