Healthcare firm Merck Sharp & Dohme plan to start work on a €200 million drug development plant in Carlow in the coming weeks.

Healthcare firm Merck Sharp & Dohme plan to start work on a €200 million drug development plant in Carlow in the coming weeks.

Carlow County Council has approved the company’s plans to build a 16,220 square metre pharmaceutical factory, which will employ 170 people when it is in full production. Plans for the factory, which will produce human vaccines, were first announced late last year.
