Former Fianna Fáil deputy leader Mary Hanafin called on the party to run a candidate for the presidential election at a meeting of the party’s National Executive.

Hanafin’s call comes amid confirmation from former taoiseach John Bruton that he will not be seeking the Fine Gael candidacy.
