Halifax shutdown squeezes options

The closure of the bank means that customers’ choices are now even more restricted

Just two weeks remain until Halifax closes its doors, signifying another nail in the coffin of competition in the banking sector.

A few months have passed since Halifax announced its imminent departure from the Irish retail banking market, with June 18s et as D-day.

Postbank has also announced plans to wind down operations at the end of the year, so options for Irish consumers are dwindling.
