Senior Green Party sources confirmed grassroots members are demanding their party leaders show more spine when dealing with Fianna Fáil
Green Party leader John Gormley will attend his party conference in Waterford next month hoping to gain some kudos for forcing Willie O’Dea to stand down as defence minister last week.
But the undisputed hero inside the party was chairman Dan Boyle whose twitters hauled the Greens back from the brink of destruction, say party insiders.
Boyle’s Facebook page is awash with tributes this weekend for his intervention on Wednesday night.
