Greens push for more TD payments cuts

The Green Party plans to push for further cuts in payments to TDs after proposals from the Oireachtas Commission last week for a 10 per cent cut in TDs’ expenses.

The Green Party plans to push for further cuts in payments to TDs after proposals from the Oireachtas Commission last week for a 10 per cent cut in TDs’ expenses.

The Green Party chief whip, Ciaran Cuffe, said that the party believed the commission could go further, even though other political parties had objected to the reductions. He said that party leader John Gormley would discuss the commission’s plan with finance minister Brian Lenihan....
