Greencore eyes bid for Park Cakes

Greencore is expected to submit a bid for Park Cakes, the English manufacturer that is being sold in a stg£200 million (€290 million) disposal programme by troubled group Northern Foods.

A successful bid for Park, which had sales last year of stg£110 million, would double the size of the Irish group’s existing cake manufacturing operations in Britain. Park makes cut cakes, which would bring Greencore into a new product category.
