Greencore back at the takeover table

Food giant Greencore is looking to put the disappointment of its failed pursuit of Northern Foods behind it with a move for Uniq

After failing to swallow Northern Foods, Greencore returns to shareholders tomorrow cap in hand for money, and permission, to buy the British sandwich and dessert-maker Uniq.

The botched attempt to get a merger with Northern foods across the line just a Few months ago leaves Greencore chief executive Patrick Coveney needing a victory.

The investment community has been broadly positive about the Uniq deal, with Dublin food sector analysts certainly more enthusiastic than they had...
