Dutch scientists have developed a road surface that fights air pollution. In a recent study, a roadway in the Netherlands was covered in photocatalytic pavement, which contains air purifying titanium dioxide, and the results showed pollution from car emissions was reduced by 19-45 per cent, depending on weather conditions. We've heard of smart cars, but that's one smart motorway.
