Brazil is planning to build 168 dams between now and 2021, many of them concentrated in the Amazon rainforest, in order to meet growing energy demands. Those involved say it is part of Brazil's destiny to become a world-class economy, while others are more concerned with the financial, environmental and human rights impact on the world's most biodiverse region.
