Green: data centres keeping it cool

Green initiatives within Ireland's data centres are becoming necessary as efficiency demands increase, writes JJ Worrall.

Howard Roberts, chief information officer of Arkphire: outlined a number of ways data centres could reduce energy loads.

As reliance on the cloud develops and the data produced by businesses increases daily, the hub of all this demand - the data centre - has had to become more energy efficient.

Indeed a walk through the recent two-day Data Centres Ireland conference in Dublin's RDS confirmed that if one industry has the green agenda front and centre in their business concerns, it's this corner of the IT market.
