Greek fate to be decided in October, says Spiegel

With politicians in Berlin and Brussels increasingly dubious about Greece's austerity efforts, a decision on Greece's fate is now expected at the EU summit in October, Germany's Spiegel magazine reported today.

With politicians in Berlin and Brussels increasingly dubious about Greece's austerity efforts, a decision on Greece's fate is now expected at the EU summit in October, Germany's Spiegel magazine reported today.

Citing unnamed sources in Berlin and Brussels, the magazine said politicians were doubtful that Greek leader Antonis Samaras can deliver reform.

The summit of European leaders on October 18th and 19th is expected to be a showdown over Greece, it said.
