Building materials and DIY group Grafton will dramatically cut the rate at which it opens new stores in the coming year.

The company, whose retail outlets include Woodie’s DIY, Chadwicks and Atlantic Homecare, and which trades from 550 locations in Ireland and Britain, said it would add fewer new stores in Ireland despite continued growth in the DIY market.
