GPO relic takes pride of place at Mealy’s sale

A copy of the Proclamation, believed to be the one that hung in the GPO during the Rising, leads at Fonsie Mealy’s with an estimate of €100,000-€150,000. Removed by Dr James Ryan, the medical officer to the GPO garrison and later a Fianna Fáil minister, it stayed in the family until it was sold to the present vendor by Fonsie Mealy in 1997.
