Government to pay for Lansdowne redevelopment

The IRFU and the FAI will not need to borrow any money to pay for the €365 million redevelopment of Lansdowne Road, following a deal reached with the government.

Under the deal, the government’s €191 million contribution towards the stadium’s redevelopment will be used before the FAI and the IRFU are forced to spend their own money.

To date, more than €25 million oBy Ian Kehoe f taxpayers’ money has been spent on the project to cover preliminary work, capital costs and planning expenses.
