Government to establish banking inquiry immediately

The Government has agreed to establish a banking inquiry immediately, following the conclusions of the Anglo trial yesterday.

The Government has agreed to establish a banking inquiry immediately, following the conclusions of the Anglo trial yesterday.

The inquiry will be carried out by a dedicated Joint Oireachtas Committee and will be chaired by Labour TD Ciaran Lynch, who currently chairs the Oireachtas Finance Committee.

A motion to establish the inquiry will be brought before the Dáil next Tuesday, the Government said.
