A new blueprint for a billion euro ocean energy industry is being developed by the government, and energy minister Eamon Ryan is expected to make a major announcement over the next few months.

Sites are currently being identified for the deployment and grid connection of this renewable power.

A strategic environmental assessment, plus a new licensing regime for R&D and commercial companies who wish to test technology here, will be completed within weeks.
