The OECD has said the state pension system should be reformed to make it simpler, more transparent and less costly.

The OECD has said the state pension system should be reformed to make it simpler, more transparent and less costly.

In a review of Ireland’s pension system, commissioned by the government, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, found that the state pension system lacked transparency, that the link in it between contributions and benefits was very weak and that it could be modernised to encourage working longer in line with international trends.
