Cabinet ministers have been told that the government may have to inject €225 million into the VHI before the end of the year.

Cabinet ministers have been told that the government may have to inject €225 million into the VHI before the end of the year.

The warning came in documents circulated before a cabinet meeting at which ministers were told of a number of emerging threats to the public finances. They were told that it is likely that the exchequer will be required to make the contribution in the second half of this year.
