Government issues draft fiscal law

The government has published a draft version of the laws it would put forward if the public were to support the EU fiscal stability pact.

Draft fiscal laws published.

Minister for Finance Michael Noonan has published draft legislation that the government would bring before the Houses of the Oireachtas to implement key provisions of the eurozone stability treaty, if it is passed.

"These rules are sensible and prudent and represent a responsible approach to budgeting," he said.

"The Government is committed to ensuring that the public will be fully informed on the implication of the treaty and will have access to all available information...
