The issues involved in the Shannon row are wildly exaggerated, of course, but the scale of the government’s mismanagement of the issue is gigantic.

The undertakings they gave at the time of the Aer Lingus privatisation have been found to be worthless; their commitment to a sensible regional policy has been exposed as vacuous.
