Gore polemic may get Nobel nod
Former US presidential hopeful Al Gore was last week nominated for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize by two Norwegian MPs for his film An Inconvenient Truth.
Conservative MP Boerge Brende is quoted as saying: ‘‘Al Gore, like no other, has put climate change on the agenda. Gore uses his position to get politicians to understand.” The film has also been nominated for an Oscar next Sunday, putting the green issue centre stage and shifting it from the news pages to the entertainment sections.
