Golf course membership to the fore

Irish golf membership has increased by more than 50 per cent over the past ten years, according to an analysis of club membership.

Irish golf membership has increased by more than 50 per cent over the past ten years, according to an analysis of club membership.

The figures, compiled by the Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI), show that more than 267,000 people are now member of Irish clubs – an increase of 91,000 members over the past decade.

According to the figures, 92 new courses have opened since 1994 and Ireland now has 413 GUI-affiliated clubs.
