The backers of a €30 million gold mining project in Co Mayo are considering taking a High Court action after the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources rejected their bid for 11 prospecting licences.

The backers of a €30 million gold mining project in Co Mayo are considering taking a High Court action after the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources rejected their bid for 11 prospecting licences.

Eamon Ryan had indicated last December that he favoured granting permission to Mayo’s Gold Ltd to prospect for gold near Louisburg. However, details of his decision not to grant the licences was circulated to involved parties in recent days.
