Global smartphone shipments reached 286 million in Q1

The number of smartphone shipments globally reached 286 million in the first three months of 2014, representing a 34 per cent year-on-year growth and a 1 per cent quarter-on-quarter growth, according to mobile analyst firm Juniper Research.

Samsung accounted for 30 per cent of all smartphone shipments globally, with an estimated 85 million shipments during the quarter. The company’s market share remained flat on the previous quarter, but the company recorded a Q1 record with year-on-year growth in shipments...
