GIP to buy Edinburgh airport for over £800 million

London Heathrow airport owner BAA will sell Edinburgh airport to US buyout firm Global Infrastructure Partners for £807.2 million (€986 million) after antitrust regulators ordered a breakup.

London Heathrow airport owner BAA will sell Edinburgh airport to US buyout firm Global Infrastructure Partners for £807.2 million (€986 million) after antitrust regulators ordered a breakup.

Scotland’s busiest airport will be added to GIP holdings that already include London’s Gatwick hub, which the New York-based company bought from BAA in 2009. GIP was also part of the consortium which bought London City airport off Dermot Desmond in 2006 for about £750 million.
