John Gilligan is pinning his hopes on a lawyer who is better known than the criminal himself.

Giovanni di Stefano has taken on Gilligan's case primarily because he claims he believes in his client.

He has said much the same about other clients, notably M25 road-rage killer Kenny Noye, Great Train Robber Ronnie Biggs, underworld figure John ‘Goldfinger' Palmer, former Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic and Saddam Hussein.
