Getting hotter in the city

Nothing is predictable in the property market right now - not least in the hotel sector, which is so buoyant that sales predictions of about €350 million for 2014 have already been blown away.

The latest forecast, released by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), suggests that Irish hotel sales (across assets and loans) could exceed Euro 1 billion this year, echoing Celtic tiger-era transactions but with a whole new set of players. To put it into perspective, hotel sales last year totalled €250 million. In 2012, they totalled €140 million.
