Getting back to work

Jobs are slowly coming back in certain sectors, but some regions are still losing heavily, writes Richard Curran.

Among the multinationals, there are sectors where Ireland continues to do incredibly well.

State job creation agencies such as IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland saw a net increase in the number of jobs created by firms they support last year for the first time since 2007.

The 21,800 new full-time jobs created in those firms more than offset the 17,467 jobs that were lost among quality indigenous firms and multinationals.
