Germany has rejected European Commission plans for a reform in taxation law that the Irish government feared would slash its income from corporation tax paid by multinationals which pay their tax here.
The German government’s decision deals a blow to the proposals for a common consolidated corporate tax base (CCCTB) - a plan which Taoiseach Enda Kenny called ‘‘tax harmonisation by the back door’’.
