The German parliament has approved changes to the European bailout fund, easing pressure on Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The German parliament has approved changes to the European bailout fund, easing pressure on Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The bill calls for the fund to be expanded to €440 billion.

In the end 523 German MPs voted in favour and 85 against. Just three abstained.
