Germany may be forced to nationalise its second largest bank, Commerzbank, according to Der Spiegel magazine. Shares in the bank have fallen more than 5 per cent this morning.

Germany may be forced to nationalise its second largest bank, Commerzbank, according to Der Spiegel magazine. Shares in the bank have fallen more than 5 per cent this morning.

The German Finance Ministry declined to comment on the report. The government can’t say anything on the matter until the European Banking Authority has published its next report on the capital needs of the region’s banks, ministry spokesman Johannes Blankenheim said at a regular government news briefing...
