Europe's largest manufacturer of wind turbines is carrying out a feasibility study on the construction of several large-scale wind farms and a turbine manufacturing facility on the west coast. The projects would involve an investment of around €5 billion and create about 3,000 jobs.

The German firm Enercon set up Irish headquarters in Tralee in Co Kerry in 2010, and since then has installed turbines with a capacity of 80MW around the country. The current feasibility...
