German government says it is not in secret talks with Hollande

The German government is engaged in no public or “secret talks” with French Socialist candidate Francois Hollande, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s chief spokesman said.

The German government is engaged in no public or “secret talks” with French Socialist candidate Francois Hollande, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s chief spokesman said, denying French reports that such discussions had taken place.

The German government awaits the result of France’s election on May 6th and will work well with whomever is elected French president, Steffen Seibert told reporters in Berlin today.
