General election could collapse Curtin investigation

The Oireachtas investigation into the conduct of Judge Brian Curtin is likely to collapse if the legal process surrounding the probe is dragged out until the next general election.

Members of the committee fear that if the delay in their investigation into how Curtin came to be charged with possessing child pornography continues, the committee will become defunct because it was established by an order of the current Oireachtas. Since the committee of four TDs and three senators, under the chairmanship of Fianna Fail TD Denis O'Donovan, was established in June last year, its work has been stymied by legal challenges.
