The Garda Siochána, lauded as the world's finest unarmed police force, has just spent more than €1 million on bullets.

The Department of Justice has awarded contracts to two Irish companies for the supply and delivery of “various quantities and types of ammunition to An Garda Siochána'‘. The contracts are worth just over €832,000, plus VAT of more than €174,000.
