Garda immigration officers have taken part in nine Europe-wide operations since the start of last year, including five ‘joint return’ operations that involved the use of shared air flights with other EU states in order to deport failed asylum seekers.
Detectives from the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) have also been involved in four international operations targeting illegal immigration into Europe from Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay.
