A series of bomb discoveries has convinced senior gardai that, while organised crime gangs are accessing high-performance military-type ordnance, minor criminals are also attempting to construct their own crude home-made explosives.

Gardai have linked a number of bomb finds with a major feud between rival Dublin city gangs which has claimed ten lives since 2005.
