An Garda Siochana has launched an investigation after computer hackers breached the internet security of the Companies Registration Office (CRO), the body responsible for obtaining and storing confidential company data, write Kieron Wood and Ian Kehoe.

The CRO has confirmed that its website had to be taken down for seven days over Christmas after it realised someone had hacked into the system. The matter has been reported to the gardai and the authorities are investigating...
