The Garda’s national drugs unit is short a fifth of its staff, as it battles to fight rising cocaine use.

The unit is seeking the appointment of ten senior officers at its headquarters in Dublin Castle. There are 50 positions in the unit, but ten of these have been vacant for the last few months; some positions have been unfilled for much longer.
