A major auction with almost 40 properties was cancelled today in Dublin when protesters engaged in scuffles prior to the event at Bewleys Hotel, Newlands Cross, Clondalkin.

A major auction with almost 40 properties was cancelled today in Dublin when protesters engaged in scuffles prior to the event at Bewleys Hotel, Newlands Cross, Clondalkin.

TD Mattie McGrath was among the protesters. Management of the hotel cancelled the event for health and safety reasons and the Gardai were also called in.

The protesters told the auctioneering team at Ganly Walters that they were intending to prevent the sale of repossessed family homes.
