Telecoms executive and political campaigner Declan Ganley has called for the scrapping of national telecoms regulators and the abolition of auction processes for mobile licences.

Ganley, chief executive of the US-based Rivada Networks, said the European regulation system was damaging telecoms business across the EU. "The decades-old model for auctioning monopolies for spectrum should be quietly set aside," he said.
