Friends First, the life and pensions business, is among a small group of potential bidders for Anglo Irish Bank's former investment wing, a standalone unit that manages assets valued at about €1 billion on behalf of investors.
Friends First, part of the Dutch insurance group Achmea, is expected to lodge a first-round bid ahead of this Friday's deadline. A small number of corporate finance houses, including Merrion Capital, are also mulling over an offer.
