French manufacturing activity shrinks as Germany withstands Russia tensions

A Purchasing Managers Index for the French manufacturing industry fell from 47.8 in July to 46.5 in August, marking its lowest level in more than a year, Markit Economics said today.

A Purchasing Managers Index for the French manufacturing industry fell from 47.8 in July to 46.5 in August, marking its lowest level in more than a year, London-based Markit Economics said today.

French GDP remained unchanged during the first two quarters of the year and the Government is now predicting full-year growth of 0.5 per cent for 2014, instead of the previous forecast of 1 per cent.
