French finance minister meets Noonan, Howlin

The Council will take a decision to authorise Member States to move ahead under enhanced cooperation in the area of a Financial Transaction Tax.

French finance minister Pierre Moscovici has met today with his Irish counterpart Michael Noonan and with Brendan Howlin to discuss current economic and financial issues in the EU.

In a joint statement they said the economic situation in Europe remained vulnerable despite the stabilisation of the euro zone crisis.

They said they had agreed that the return of growth must be put at the heart of the European priorities in the coming months.
