French riots over an unpopular labour law and the cliffhanger that was the Italian election will fail to dent continental stock markets for long, investment analysts have predicted.

The French and Italian stock market indices, which had been in the vanguard of the best performing large stock markets in Europe this year, have been hit by the French protests and last week’s wafer-thin defeat of prime minister Silvio Berlusconi at the Italian polls.
