Free travel to cost state €2m

The government’s decision to grant the over-65s free travel at peak times will cost the state an estimated €2 million a year.

Transport sources believe the decision will add to congestion at peak times, particularly on Dublin Bus, where the government has yet to agree to provide additional buses.
