Free childcare for year proposed by think-tank

Parents should receive one year's free childcare, paid by the state, before their children attend primary school, according to a government think-tank that has recommended sweeping reforms of childcare.

Parents should receive one year's free childcare, paid by the state, before their children attend primary school, according to a government think-tank that has recommended sweeping reforms of childcare.

This would cost the taxpayer €136 million a year, according to the Nat ional Economic and Social Forum (NESF), which made the recommendation in a draft report for the government.
